Bryan Johnson (b. August 22, 1977) is an American entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and bio-optimization pioneer. He is best known as the founder of Braintree, a fintech company that acquired Venmo and was sold to PayPal in 2013 for $800 million. Post-exit, he launched OS Fund to support frontier science startups and later founded Kernel, a neurotechnology company creating advanced brain measurement devices.
Most recently, Johnson leads Blueprint, a radical longevity and health optimization experiment that tracks over 100 biomarkers and applies strict data-driven protocols to reverse his biological age. With Blueprint, he aims to develop a repeatable, publicly accessible protocol for maximizing human healthspan, establishing himself as "the most measured human in history."

Bryan Johnson’s journey began with a transformative experience in Ecuador, where he lived in poverty from age 19–21. Inspired by systemic inequality and driven by a desire to shape humanity’s long-term future, he set a goal to become independently wealthy to fund world-bettering initiatives. In 2007, he founded Braintree, a payment platform that powered services like Uber and Airbnb. After acquiring Venmo, Braintree was sold to PayPal in 2013. He used the proceeds to launch the OS Fund, investing $100 million of his own capital into companies building the future of synthetic biology, genomics, and AI.
In 2016, Johnson founded Kernel, which developed a wearable brain recording device for large-scale, real-world neurological studies. With the launch of Blueprint in 2020, he began using his own body as a testing ground, assembling a medical team to measure hundreds of biomarkers and reverse his biological age across multiple organ systems. As of 2024, his epigenetic age has dropped by over 5.1 years—making him the “healthiest 48-year-old alive,” according to his team.
